Mocht u een fan zijn van the unique mixture old school dirty, back - woods blues and shimmering, sloe - eyed country ballads dan zult u waarschijnlijk tevreden zijn dat u met ondergetekende een lotgenoot heeft gevonden. Erg talrijk zal ons clubje wellicht niet worden maar het album " Side Show Revival" van Tom Feldmann & Get - Rites ( Paul Liebenow / upright bass en drummer Jed Staack) kan misschien voor een heropleving  zorgen van country - blues tinged material. The religious blues sound of Blind Willie Johnson, Son House en Mississippi Fred Mc Dowell in combinatie met the raucous gospel twang tradition of the Louvin Brothers en Uncle Tupelo  maken van dit schijfje één "Lord - Praising Glory -Fest ".

Featuring Feldmann's endearingly raspy vocals, rowdy slide guitar and throw - back rhythm section laat dit schijfje ons bijna veertig minuten genieten van foot - stomping nummers, typical acoustic blues songs about lost love or addiction & traditional hymns that have all but lost their meaning in a sunful society...

Tom Feldmann die al een kleine tien jaar op een schitterende manier bezig is (solo of fronting the Get - Rites) met delicious mish-mash of up-tempo aisle-dancers, goose-flesh-inducing ballads, and wisdom-inflected ruminations that make you want to throw your arms up and dance ( whether it’s for the sake of Jesus or not)  heeft met dit album een nieuw meesterwerkje in huis.
